Is it possible? It seems there is nothing impossible for Google. This program will work as translators in conferences: Every time you talk someone should make a pass and the program will translate to the listener in accurate robotic voice. As we already know that speech to speech translator could be possible and will work just fine within a few years.

According to Franz Och (Head of the translation services), this software will translate the voice to other user through a robotic voice. He further says, this technology like speech recognition and translation will work very well. Further he adds, this software will be fully developed in a couple of years.

Yeah I was wondering that too. I suppose it’ll just be a few of the most spoken languages to start with and if it’s well received they’ll expand in the future. It looks like a really good proposal, I hope they go through with it and it works well.

Google Goggles is a visual search aid that allows Android users to search by taking pictures of text or objects rather than typing in text. With the new translation element, Goggles users can snap a photo of a word or line of text and rely on Google to translate it for them. This could help to streamline simple activities in a foreign country like ordering from a menu or reading a train schedule. Currently the feature can read languages including English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
